  1. Good comments on the 990. Funny thing though- Convair, after the 880/990 production, produced all the fuselages for the DC-10 and KC-10. They made about half the fuselages for the MD-11, and made most of the money from those projects. When they closed in 1996 they were quite wealthy. They had no need for projects. But they had helped start General Dynamics, and held their identity in GD. So liquidating Convair was not as a result of loss of work.
