• Activities: Last summer, I was invited to join a friend's family vacation aboard a houseboat on Lake Roosevelt. We didn't have to bring much in the way of food, etc. because they and the boat had it all. The lake is beautiful, but I was most impressed with the houseboat...pretty amazing! When the vacation was over, I called Dakota Columbia Houseboats to inquire about flying in with my own family. They told me that I could anchor my airplane in the marina or if I flew my other airplane, I could land at Seven Bays and park in their hangar. I think we may have next year's vacation planned.
• About Your Plane: We have a C185 on floats and a '39 J3
• Flying Tips: Lake Roosevelt is a big lake with very little concentrated boat traffic. No concerns when flying in on floats. As far as the Seven Bays Airport, its 2600' grass strip is very well maintained, but winds tend to swirl on short final. Also, Mule Deer are very common early in the morning or at dusk, so be aware.
