Cirrus Flies With SAM
Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics announced that Cirrus Aircraft will feature the company’s 2-inch MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM) on the all-digital Special Edition SR22T Accelero and GTS option packages for the SR20, SR22 and SR22T aircraft.
Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics announced that Cirrus Aircraft will feature the company's 2-inch MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM) on the all-digital Special Edition SR22T Accelero and GTS option packages for the SR20, SR22 and SR22T aircraft.
"Safety and innovation are core values at Cirrus Aircraft," said Todd Simmons, Cirrus Aircraft Executive Vice President Sales, Marketing & Support and Chief Customer Officer. "We are constantly pursuing new technologies that push our aircraft to the forefront of aviation. In 2015, that pursuit led us to seamlessly integrate Mid-Continent's 4-in-1 digital standby instrument into our All Digital aircraft."
SAM is the first digital standby instrument to display attitude, altitude, airspeed, slip, vertical trend, and heading information in an advanced 2-inch format. The standby attitude module is a compact device, specifically designed to fit in less panel space than a standard set of 2-inch mechanical attitude, altitude and airspeed indicators.
SAM's unique, high-definition, two-screen display features selectable horizontal and vertical orientation. This allows flexible cockpit installation without extensive rearrangement of equipment or the need for re-certification of relocated avionics. Weighing 1.6 pounds, SAM is lighter than the three mechanical units it is designed to replace. SAM is FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) certified to C2d, C3e, C4c, C10b, C106, C113a and C179a, including RTCA DO-178B and DO-254 Design Assurance Level A.
The Special Edition SR22T Accelero is the first all-digital aircraft in the Cirrus SR-Series, which also includes the Cirrus SR20, SR22 and SR22T. Meaning to "accelerate or advance," the SR22T Accelero was inspired by innovations made in the Cirrus Vision SF50 Jet program.
Cirrus SR-Series aircraft incorporate innovative and advanced performance, electronic and safety technologies. The aircraft-specific GTS packages feature a combination of Premium Select, Perspective Plus, Perspective Alerts Awareness & Assistance, and Certified Flight Into Known Ice packages, Carbon or Platinum Appearance Upgrade, and authentic GTS badging.
