EAA Pilot Proficiency Center A Huge Success

Don’t tell these pilots having fun that they’re training.

The EAA Pilot Proficiency Center is, after four or five years, depending on how you do the math, still in its infancy, but this year's incarnation is enjoying staggering success, which we figure based on the numbers of pilots being reached and, anecdotally, by the smiles on their faces as they head out from the Center or, more often, to another activity within it. The Center, of which Plane & Pilot is a proud sponsor, has been given a big footprint and a wealth of resources by the EAA, which, of course, hosts the entire AirVenture week.

This year's Center features scenarios on Redbird Flight simulators guided by professional flight instructors for both IFR and VFR pilots, great Tech Talks by Jeppesen experts and guests, and for the first time, the Redbird Crosswind Trainer.

How successful has this year's EAA Pilot Proficiency Center been? Suffice it to say that there hasn't been a minute of unused simulator time even with dozens of devices, and the Tech Talks have been standing room only all week.

Other sponsors include Redbird Flight, Hartzell Propeller, Jeppesen, David Clark, AOPA, NAFI, SAFE, PilotEdge, MindStar Aviation and Pilot Workshops.

If you're still at the show, you can still take advantage of this great and free opportunity to improve your proficiency. Just stop by the Center at the EAA Four Corners. See you there!
