Any time a pilot upgrades or switches to an unfamiliar avionics system, questions arise. No matter how many times you read the manual and press the buttons, nothing beats having a good teacher show you the tricks. With that in mind, Garmin is offering an expanded list of pilot training classes for the upcoming year.
Classes will cover most of the avionics Garmin offers, including the GTN 650/750 touchscreen and G500/G600. There are several two-day onsite courses offered at Garmin Headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. There are also regional options for classroom-style learning: Flight Safety Academy; Vero Beach, Florida, Garmin AT facility; Salem, Oregon, AOPA National Aviation Community Center; Frederick, Maryland, and Garmin Chandler Office; Chandler, Arizona. Cost for these classroom options ranges from $495 – $795.
On-demand classes can be worked out for the G1000, G3000, and G5000, though they are dependent on instructor and resource availability. Similarly, price varies based on location and need. The online eLearning course options are self-paced and available for the G3000/G5000, Link 2000+, GTN 650/750, and Weather Rader Operations. The cost for online classes is between $49 – $249.
