HondaJet Earns FAA Production Certificate

The FAA certificate authorizes Honda Aircraft to produce, flight test and issue airworthiness certificates for the HondaJet for customer deliveries.

Honda Aircraft Company has earned a Production Certificate from the FAA for its HA-420 HondaJet, an advanced light jet. The company has been steadily ramping up production at its Greensboro, North Carolina, headquarters/production facility since receiving FAA type certification last year. Plane & Pilot visited the HondaJet factory in March 2016, and there were 20 planes in various stage of construction in the state-of-the-art facility.

Among its innovations, the HondaJet features an Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration, which improves performance and fuel efficiency by reducing aerodynamic drag. This unique design means a reduction in cabin sound and minimization of ground-detected noise, and provides for amenities like a roomy cabin, a large baggage capacity and private aft lav. As for avionics, the jet is equipped with a customized Garmin G3000 glass panel.
