Jeppesen Charts Now Available On Garmin Pilot
Jeppesen approach charts are widely recognized as the gold standard the world around. Now pilots can use them in their Garmin Pilot app.
There's good news for pilots who love their Garmin Pilot app but miss the Jeppesen charts they also love. Garmin Pilot can now incorporate Jepp charts. This move should help Garmin grow the app and drive some additional business Jeppesen's way.
There are some really great apps out there these days. And these new products just keep on adding features, capabilities and user-friendly interface functions. Garmin Pilot is without question one of the best.
And it just got better. Garmin just added optional Jepp charts to the mix. This new option will be popular among Jeppesen devotees. Users can add the charts to the iOS platform version of Garmin Pilot with an available Jeppesen electronic subscription. The even better news is this. Many aircraft owners with Jepp charts on their panel-mount avionics already have an electronic license as part of their subscription package. As far as apps are concerned, Jeppesen's charts had previously been available only through itsown products. While NOS charts are more widely used than ever, thanks to their popularity on apps like Garmin Pilot, the gold standard in terminal charts is still Jeppesen. The charts feature symbology that's easy on the eyes, foreign coverage that makes the world a smaller place, and a design that makes finding your way around the chart about as easy as it could be.
Jeppesen has no plans to cut back on its existing apps. These products, including EFBs, are popular products for professional and military flight crews. But the partnership with Garmin is an acknowledgement that other apps are outpacing its own GA apps. This is the case despite Jeppesen mobile apps boasting many technologically sophisticated features. These features include data-driven mapping, which Garmin Pilot also has. For Garmin, the addition of Jeppesen charts is a real coup in its ongoing competition for a bigger share of the lucrative aviation app market.
Garmin Pilot IFR Premium starts at $149.99 per year.
