Open Oshkosh Land May Become Business Park
The airshow may have concluded for this year, but a proposed business park could bring aviation to Oshkosh year-round
Another successful AirVenture Oshkosh just wrapped up, but city officials are hoping to bring aviation to the area all year long. Along with Winnebago Country, Oshkosh city officials are attempting to launch a new aviation business park.
An open 80-acre area near Wittman Regional Airport is where city and county leaders are planning to build the aviation business park. Officials are hoping that will be entice aviation companies to bring their companies to Wisconsin, which would be a boon to the local economy. According to officials, when everything is complete, the park could bring in $75 million each year to Winnebago County, as well as up to 500 new jobs.
"We feel like we can take that another step further by capturing a lot of that enthusiasm in Oshkosh of aviation enthusiasts from all over the world by establishing a home for companies. Maybe they want to be here not just one week out of the year, but 52 weeks out of the year," said Jason White, CEO, Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corp.
The project already has the necessary approvals from the city and county.
