Review: EAA AirVenture Official App
The EAA’s everything app is available. Here’s why you want to get it.
For the past couple of years, we've been using the EAA's official app on our iPhones, and it's changed our experience of the show. This year's app is better than ever. Here's what's new.
The app is available for both iOS (iPhones and iPads) as well as Android devices. It does everything an event app generally does, including listing all of the show's exhibitors, a daily calendar of the staggering number of events at OSH, a map of the giant event site, and a feature that let's you create a personal schedule.
What's new is the map. In the past, the map has been essential for finding what you're looking for and figuring out how far it is. The show grounds are so large that unless you head in the right direction off the bat, you stand a big chance of arriving after the festivities have begun (or even after they've ended). This year's map lets you see right where you are (not always easy to figure out) and where the events are you're looking for. It's easy then to see exactly how to get where you're going.
Other new features we love are the global search box!just type in what you're looking for, ie...EAA Pilot Proficiency Center!and a big caret pops up showing you where it is. You can also favorite events, which isn't just for fun. By marking a forum or a talk as a fave, the app automatically puts it in your personal schedule.
The app is available for free on the Apple App Store or the Google Play store. Just search for EAA AirVenture and it'll pop right up. Hope to see you at the show!
