Students Complete Redbird Build

The students of the Lakeland Aero Club had a goal for Sun ’n Fun. As we reported last week, they wanted to assemble their own Redbird FMX flight simulator and they planned to make it happen in just a couple of days. The question is, did they get it put together in time?

Of course they did. It will come as no surprise to anyone who met these young people that they did a beautiful job with time to spare. By the time Thursday morning rolled around, the sim was up and running and the students were taking turns showing off their work and cooking pancakes for the Sun ’n Fun attendees.

The Lakeland Aero Club is a not-for-profit high school flying club. It was founded in 2011. In addition to building flight simulators, members learn to maintain, restore, and fly GA aircraft, with the support of sponsors and club advisers, some of whom were in attendance on Thursday to see the completed Redbird FMX simulator and congratulate the students first hand.
