Besides designing the Super Emeraude, Claude Piel has also created the Diamant and Beryl. The Emeraude is a low-wing monoplane that achieves excellent performance from a 100-hp Continental with a fixed-pitch prop. It features an enclosed cockpit for two in sideby- side fashion. Construction materials consist of wood and fabric. The most significant improvement in the Super Emeraude is a reinforced structure to allow the use of engines up to 150 hp and to be fully aerobatic when flown solo. It is distinguished by a larger and swept-back vertical tail, which improves directional stability. The airplane has all modern features including slotted flaps, slotted ailerons, single-leg landing gear, steerable tailwheel, and sliding canopy. The Super Emeraude is approved for categories N, U, and A.
