Sporty‘s Flight Experience

Searching for a better aerial introduction

Introducing a potential student to the flight world is rarely as simple as just taking them flying. One company says it hasthe solution.

While traditional intro flights are a ton of fun, the brief glimpse offered by a single flight doesn't provide much opportunity to teach people what flight training is all about, and perhaps more importantly, whether or not it's something they want to pursue. In a bid to bridge the gap between intro flight and student pilot, Sporty's Academy in Batavia, OH is offering a new intro package aimed at giving interested individuals a more complete introduction to flying.

"So often, people interested in becoming pilots take one introductory lesson only," says Sporty's Academy President Eric Radtke. "The person enjoys it, everyone smiles and takes a photo, but the potential pilot isn't sure if or how to continue." The new intro package, called the Sporty's Flight Experience, starts with three lessons in a Frasca Mentor Advanced Aviation Training Device and culminates with a fourth lesson in a 172. The flight lesson includes an intro to pre-flight, takeoff and landing, and a short cross-country. The student will also have access to the Sporty's Learn To Fly online course and receive a logbook, cockpit poster, and photos of their first flight. The package costs $549.
