The pilot of a small plane was reportedly killed when the aircraft crashed short of Runway 12 at Los Angeles-area Whiteman Airport. Two cars parked on the street just west of the airport were destroyed and burned, but houses just feet from the crash were apparently spared. Local TV news outlet KTLA is covering the crash, which was witnessed by local residents, who told reporters that the fire resulting from the crash was intense. This is a breaking story.
