EAA Virtual Oshkosh Ready To Roll

With no live AirVenture, the EAA has already launched Spirit of Aviation Week, an impressive virtual event with tons of fun things to do.

EAA Virtual Oshkosh

For those of us not going to Oshkosh for EAA AirVenture this summer (which is all of us!), EAA has put together an incredible lineup of events and informational and education virtual gatherings, which it calls Spirit of Aviation Week. It is shaping up to be as good a substitute as imaginable.

There are a ton of webinars, and good ones too. Take in a session with a Garmin rep talking about G3X avionics installs, or Jeppesen talking about future air mobility. Check out some great gear with Aircraft Spruce or Sporty’s, and take a virtual of Textron Aviation’s lineup of Cessna and Beechcraft flyers.

Education and proficiency are always a big part of OSH, and the cancellation of the live event won’t stop that from happening. The EAA Pilot Proficiency Center, which is hosted by EAA and features more than a dozen Redbird simulators designed to put attendees through their paces under the watchful eye of a seasoned CFI, is going virtual, as well.

Among the training activities available through the virtual Pilot Proficiency Center are:

  • Tech Talks that include procedures, aviation tools, tips and tricks, weather planning, and the use of charts.
  • Train with a remote CFI using your Redbird flight simulator while flying an EAA Proficiency365 scenario.
  • Fly the famous Fisk arrival into Oshkosh with your home flight simulator — complete with wing rocks, real ATC, and hundreds of aircraft. (Slots are limited and advance registration is required at https://www.pilotedge.net/pages/simventure.

And there are other events galore, with everything from history talks to in-depth discussions of specific topics, like building a kitplane or working sheet metal—guaranteed no sharp edges this year! There are, in fact, more than 170 events scheduled.

There’s so much going on that as a part of Spirit of Aviation Week, EAA has launched a special gateway to help you keep everything organized for your week of fun. The portal allows you to register and get started with planning the fun!
