The Recreational Aviation Foundation lost one of its most ardent members earlier this month when Reade Genzlinger was killed in a crash along with 17-year-old Mackenzie Ruston, the daughter of longtime RAF member and supporter Mark Ruston. The RAF is a nonprofit organization with the mission of creating and maintaining access to pilots to remote airstrips. In its preliminary report, the FAA made no preliminary finding, noting only that the crash occurred under Òunknown circumstances.Ó Genzlinger was flying a Yak 52, a popular Soviet-era Experimental two-seat mid-performance aerobatic plane. Genzlinger had been a board member of RAF since 2012. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, and five children.

A commercial pilot, editor-in-Chief Isabel Goyer has been flying for more than 40 years, with hundreds of different aircraft in her logbook and thousands of hours. An award-winning aviation writer, photographer and editor, Ms. Goyer led teams at Sport Pilot, Air Progress and Flying before coming to Plane & Pilot in 2015.
