Here’s What Happened In The Big Bore Diesel Lab

EPS runs its clean-sheet airplane engine

The big bore diesel engine by startup EPS we reported on last week has been running in the lab, and the company wanted to update its progress, which it had hoped would be good news for potential customers. Was it? Well, in a word, absolutely. The geared diesel engine has been run for 100 hours now. After five hours EPS completely disassembled it for inspection, and partially disassembled it at 30 hours, with both inspections revealing Òno major issues,Ó according to the company. Equally exciting is that even as it tweaks the software controlling the FADEC engine, EPS has already seen 360-hp from the power plant, and it expects to achieve even higher power output figures soon.
